MDaemon Mail Pruning Tips & Tricks

You can clear up disk space on the server by deleting outdated data using MDaemon's pruning capability. The Account & Mail Pruning settings in the Domain Manager or the Public Folder Pruning settings in the Server Settings menu may be familiar to you, but did you know that you can adjust your pruning settings with a Command prompt? You can specify exactly what you wish to trim using the command line interface. For instance, you can move messages to a specific public folder, prune (remove) messages that are a certain number of days old (say, 15 days) for a sub-folder of an account's inbox, or simply have the pruning information logged without actually deleting any data. To test this feature, you can either have those messages relocated to a certain public folder or simply have the pruning information reported without destroying any data.

View the AccountPrune.txt file, which is in the MDaemon/App directory, for a thorough tutorial on utilizing Account Pruning, including all of its instructions and correct syntax. All of the command parameters are explained in this file along with examples.
